Summer Shipping
Chocolate and summer have never really gotten along. Every bar we make is tempered by hand and melts around 80°F — which is what a delivery truck in July feels like on the inside. So from May through September, we ship differently.
The short version:
- Summer orders ship Monday–Thursday only — never into a weekend warehouse
- Ice packs and insulated liners are included free on every order
- If anything arrives melted, email a photo within 48 hours and we’ll replace it
How we protect your order
Early-week shipping. Orders go out Monday through Thursday, so packages never sit in a carrier warehouse over the weekend — that’s where most heat damage happens.
Cold packaging, on us. Every summer order ships with ice packs and insulated liners. No surcharge, no add-on at checkout.
Weather watch. If a heat wave is sitting on the route to you, we may hold your order a day or two and email you. We’d rather your chocolate arrive late than arrive as a puddle.
When your package arrives
Bring it inside promptly — a porch in July undoes everything the ice packs accomplished. Not home during the day? Ship to a workplace or a shaded delivery spot.
If chocolate warms and re-cools, cocoa butter can rise to the surface as gray streaks called bloom. It’s completely safe to eat and tastes the same — but we make chocolate that’s meant to look as good as it tastes, so if yours arrives bloomed or soft, tell us.
Melted? Here’s the fix.
Snap a photo of the box and its contents and email support@loonchocolate.com within 48 hours of delivery. We’ll send a replacement on our next shipping run — no questions asked, nothing to send back.
For our wholesale partners
Everything above applies to wholesale orders, including free cold packaging on every case. For a compromised shipment, the same 48-hour photo claim applies — email support@loonchocolate.com with your order number and we’ll replace affected product on your next run.
Questions about a summer order? Drop us a line — David or Rachel will get back to you, usually same-day.
